2018 NBA Mock Draft Honcho Knickels Style

  1. Phoenix: Deandre Ayton, C, Arizona

Would rather see Luka Doncic go here, since new Suns head coach Igor Kokoškov used to coach him overseas, but Ayton is a good fit here as well.

  1. Sacramento: Luka Doncic, G, Real Madrid

The Kings have depth at every position so the best option here is to take the best player available. I don’t see why Doncic wouldn’t go top 2 in this year’s draft unless Bamba is in the conversation. He’s great in nearly every aspect of basketball besides defense, and is a rare talent.

  1. Atlanta: Mohamed Bamba, C, Texas

There is too much potential not to take Bamba here.

  1. Memphis: Marvin Bagley III, PF/C, Duke

Not a big fan of Bagley, but someone is going to draft him high regardless. It might as well be Memphis.

  1. Dallas: Jaren Jackson Jr., C, Michigan State

Not a fan of Jackson Jr. either, but he has a lot of hype coming into this draft, so he’s going to get picked high regardless as well.

  1. Orlando: Trae Young, PG, Oklahoma

Not only does Orlando need a point guard, they need shooters, and Young helps with both of those needs.

  1. Chicago: Michael Porter Jr., F, Missouri

The Bulls need a small forward and Porter Jr. fits that need.

  1. Cleveland: Wendell Carter Jr., C, Duke

Cleveland need a big man, because Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson aren’t cutting it.

  1. Knicks: Mikal Bridges, Villanova, SF, 6-7, 210

The Knicks are at a tough spot here because this is where the talent and potential pool falls off. But Bridges should still be a decent player regardless.

  1. Philadelphia (via Lakers): Lonnie Walker, SG, Miami

The Sixers need shooters and Walker has been raved about in his workouts. It wouldn’t be much a reach if he were taken here.

  1. Charlotte: Kevin Knox, SF/PF, Kentucky

I could see Miles Bridges here as well, but Charlotte could opt to take the forward with more potential.

  1. L.A. Clippers (via Pistons): Collin Sexton, PG, Alabama

Sexton gives the Clippers the point guard they need ever since they lost Chris Paul.

  1. L.A. Clippers: Miles Bridges, F, Michigan State

The Clippers already filled their need in the draft so they might as well take the best player available.

  1. Denver: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, PG, Kentucky

This is a player that Denver can use all over the floor.

  1. Washington: Robert Williams III, C, Texas A&M

Williams III fits Washington’s need in the frontcourt.

  1. Phoenix (via Heat): Zhaire Smith, SG, Texas Tech

The Suns get the best player available in Smith.

  1. Milwaukee: Jerome Robinson, SG, Boston College

The Bucks get the scorer they need in Robinson.

  1. San Antonio: Elie Okobo, G, France

The Spurs get their new point guard and he can replace Tony Parker hopefully.

  1. Atlanta (via Timberwolves): Troy Brown, F, Oregon

The Hawks draft a player from Oregon for the second straight year and get to fill their need at small forward.

  1. Minnesota (via Thunder): Chandler Hutchinson, F, Boise St

Tom Thibodeau could try to be petty here and take the player that his old team in the Bulls are coveting so much. Hutchinson is a great underrated player regardless, and should be taken a lot higher than what he likely will be taken at. He looks to be this year’s Kyle Kuzma.

  1. Utah: Kevin Huerter, G, Maryland

The Jazz could use more shooters for Donovan Mitchell.

  1. Chicago (via Pelicans): Aaron Holiday, G, UCLA

The Bulls get to pair Holiday with his older brother Justin, but it’s doubtful that he falls this far.

  1. Indiana: Keita Bates-Diop, F, Ohio State

Bates-Diop is a wing with great size, but it isn’t clear if he can create as much offense as he did in college, on the NBA level.

  1. Portland: Donte DiVincenzo, G, Villanova

This is a player who can perform well on both floors for Portland. It’s likely that he gets drafted higher than this.

  1. L.A. Lakers (via Cavaliers): Josh Okogie, SG, Georgia Tech

The Lakers get a solid shooter in Okogie.

  1. Philadelphia: Grayson Allen, G, Duke

As mentioned previously, Philly needs shooters, and Allen would be a steal at this spot and is a great player who’s underrated in this draft.

  1. Boston: Mitchell Robinson, C, Chalmette High School

The Celtics need a center so might as well use a low pick for a possible high reward.

  1. Golden State: De’Anthony Melton, G, USC

Melton can be a solid backup guard behind Steph Curry.

  1. Nets: Moritz Wagner, C, Michigan

Wagner would be a great compliment to Jarret Allen. He’s a very underrated big man in this draft, and has potential to be a great starter in this league.

  1. Atlanta: Dzanan Musa, G, Bosnia

With the last pick in the first round, Atlanta might as well take a risk here and pick Musa as he’s good at creating his own offense, but he just needs time to develop

2018 NFL Mock Draft

  1. Cleveland Browns- Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

Browns could take a quarterback here but they already have Tyrod Taylor and can draft a quarterback that can develop behind Taylor.

  1. New York Giants- Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

It’s funny how everybody was all over QB Sam Darnold earlier this year, but now Mayfield is getting the attention he deserves because he is the best QB in this draft. With Barkley gone, the Giants take the best QB available.

  1. New York Jets (from Indianapolis Colts)- Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

The Jets lose out on Mayfield but still get a solid qb in Rosen.

  1. Cleveland Browns (from Houston Texans)- Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

Cleveland gets a QB who can develop while Tyrod Taylor starts.

  1. Denver Broncos- Sam Darnold, QB, USC

Not a big fan of Darnold, but he’s likely going high and the Broncos need a QB.

  1. Indianapolis Colts (from New York Jets)- Bradley Chubb, DE, N.C. State

The Colts need a pass rusher and Chubb can do just that.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame

The Bucs could use more protection and Nelson is the best player available.

  1. Chicago Bears- Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

The Bears need to get younger at LB and Smith is the best LB available.

  1. San Francisco 49ers- Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio St

Ward would be a great CB to pair with Richard Sherman.

  1. Oakland Raiders- Vita Vea, DT, Washington

Oakland needs an interior presence and Vea helps bring that.

  1. Miami Dolphins- Lamar Jackson, QB, Lousiville

Ryan Tannehill isn’t the answer at QB, Jackson is if he falls this low.

  1. Buffalo Bills (from Cincinnati Bengals)-Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma St

A reach at this spot, but with the high pick of QBs, Rudolph won’t be available with their 2nd round pick.

  1. Washington Redskins-Minkah Fitzpatrick, S, Alabama

Highly doubt he falls this low. Washington gets their somewhat modern day Sean Taylor.

  1. Green Bay Packers-Derwin James, S, Florida St.

James is another safety that probably won’t fall this far, but this would be a steal for the Packers.

  1. Arizona Cardinals- DJ Moore, WR, Maryland

Arizona can’t get the QB they want at this pick, but they can find weapons for whoever it’s going to be.

  1. Baltimore Ravens-Trumaine Edwards, LB, Virginia Tech

Terrell Suggs is getting older, and while Matt Judon is looking like a great pass rusher, drafting the best player available doesn’t hurt.

  1. Los Angeles Chargers-Da’Ron Payne, DT, Alabama

This seems like a consensus pick if he’s available at this position.

  1. Seattle Seahawks- Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

Seattle gets someone that can fill in for the loss of Richard Sherman.

  1. Dallas Cowboys- Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama

Ridley will help replace the loss of Dez Bryant.

  1. Detroit Lions- Marcus Davenport, DE, UTSA

Davenport’s draft has been rising lately and the Lions could use another pass rusher across from Ziggy Ansah.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals (from Buffalo Bills)- Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota St

Tyler Eifert is too unreliable at tight end. I think Goedert is best tight end in the draft and this would be a great pick for Cincinnati.

  1. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City Chiefs)- James Daniels, C, Iowa

With no quarterback good enough to be reached for at this pick, Buffalo should keep on building an offense that can help any quarterback.

  1. New England Patriots (from Los Angeles Rams)- Kolton Miller, OT, UCLA

Seems like another consensus pick here, and Miller would help protect Tom Brady.

  1. Carolina Panthers- Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville

This would be a steal for Carolina at this point of the draft, and the Panther badly need a CB.

  1. Tennessee Titans- Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama

The Titans need a pass rusher, and Evans would be a great pick at this spot.

  1. Atlanta Falcons- Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina

Atlanta needs to get more athletic at the tight end position and Hurst helps out with that.

  1. New Orleans Saints- Harold Landry, OLB, Boston College

New Orleans get a great pass rusher across from Cameron Jordan.

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers- Sony Michel, RB, Georgia

It’s uncertain if Pittsburgh will be able to retain Le’Veon Bell long term, so Michel can be the future franchise RB, be a really great backup RB if Bell signs a long term deal with Pittsburgh.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars- Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU

Jacksonville lost Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, so Sutton is a great pick here.

  1. Minnesota Vikings- Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame

This isn’t a very great tackle class, but Minnesota gets a steal here.

  1. New England Patriots- Derrius Guice, RB, LSU

The Patriots get a franchise running back in Guice.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles- Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP

Philadelphia gets a solid guard in Hernandez.

SI’s NBA Mock Draft 2018

9. Knicks: Mikal Bridges, SF, Villanova | Jr.

Height: 6’7″ | Weight: 210 | Age: 21 | Last: 9
Stats: 18.0 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 43% 3FG

The Knicks could use a wing player, and Bridges is a pretty safe bet to become useful as a plus defender and perimeter scorer. He’s a smooth athlete whose ability to space the floor and guard multiple positions makes him an easy theoretical fit in any lineup. Creating his own shot off the dribble is a weakness, but as a secondary scorer, Bridges has room to improve and give you enough everywhere else. However, he may not have the upside of others in this range.
